Getting To Malaga Airport

Malaga Airport is situated just an 8 km / 5 miles distance southwest of Malaga and is within a 5 km / 3.1 mile distance of Torremolinos. Getting to the airport is easy and convenient by road and by rail.

Getting to the airport by Car

The airport has its own link to the city and the rest of the Costa del Sol via motorway Ma-21, also referred to as the Torremolinos to Malaga route. The A-7 links up with motorway Ma-21 from the west as well as from the south.

A taxi rank can be found outside of major international hotels, train stations and passengers travelling to Malaga Airport will be dropped off either at the main airport taxi rank outside Terminal 3 near the arrivals area or directly in front of the departure area at either Terminal 2 or 3 depending on the airline passengers are going to fly with.

Several car hire providers have offices in Malaga and at the airport, allowing passengers to drop off their vehicle at the airport on the day of their departure.

Getting to the airport by Bus

Malaga city buses incorporate Express Airport Line 75, which takes passengers to the Transportation Hub at the airport in just under 15 minutes. At terminal 3 there is direct access to both the arrivals and departure areas from the Transportation Hub. The bus station is located below the terminals. Bus tickets for this journey cost EUR 2.00 for a single ticket and the ticket can be purchased from the driver on the bus. Passengers should have ready cash, as the bus driver cannot accept credit or debit cards.

Bus route 19 covers the airport and a number of destinations in the city, starting from the Avenida M. Augustin Heredia via Avenida Velazquez to the airport.

Getting to Malaga Airport by Intercity buses from Torremolinos and Benalmadena is made easy be frequent services. A single ticket costs EUR 3.50 and the line to use is M-128. Bus line M-135 covers the Malaga to Santa Amalia route, which incorporates Alhaurin de la Torre and Malaga city. The bus stops at the cargo terminal at the airport. A single ticket for this journey costs EUR 2.05 per person.

The Marbella line links the airport and the main bus terminal in Marbella. A single ticket costs EUR 4.77 per person. The Estepona Airport line charges EUR 7.49 per person.

Getting to Malaga Airport from further afield without a car is also possible by taking long-distances coaches, which take passengers to the airport’s Transportation Hub. Avanzabus is a coach operator providing travel between Algeciras in the province of Cadiz and Malaga. A single ticket costs EUR 12.30 per person. The coach operator Alsa links the cities of Granada and Seville with Malaga.

Getting to the airport by Train

Getting to the airport by suburban train lines doesn’t take long at all. The airport is connected by train with Fuengirola, Banalmadena, Malaga and Torremolinos. Train journeys take only 10 minutes from Torremolinos and 12 minutes from the centre of Malaga to get to the airport. Trains arrive at the Transportation Hub located below Terminal 3.
