Hertz Car Rental Lanzarote Airport

Hertz Lanzarote Airport Guide Car Hire

Lanzarote Airport is one of the Canary Islands found far south of the Spanish mainland, and is on the island located the furthest north-east of all seven Canaries.  Lanzarote, similar to all the other islands, is a popular holiday destination for thousands of local and international tourists, with lovely golden beaches, a warm climate and many other spectacular attractions.  The island is also known for its unusual volcanic landscapes.  The airport handles almost five million passengers per annum, and has a variety of facilities, including Lanzarote Airport car hire companies, such as Hertz.  Hertz is the largest provider of car rental services in the world, and offers their customers competitive rental rates.

The airport of Lanzarote Island is located in San Bartolome, Las Palmas, and just five kilometres southwest of Arrecife, the capital city of the island.  It has two terminal buildings, one of which is a new area dedicated to inter-island traffic, and is known as Terminal 2.  The terminal has six check-in desks and five boarding gates, and arriving passengers will find the car hire companies in the arrivals area of the building, by the exit doors of the baggage reclaim area.  They are located in the arrivals lobby, and are therefore accessible to all at the airport.  In Terminal 1, the car hire companies, including Hertz, are found on the arrivals level as well.  Hertz Lanzarote Airport is open from 07:00 to 23:00 for reservations, vehicle collections and vehicle returns.

From the airport, passengers driving a rented car from Hertz will access Arrecife from one of the main motorways of the island, known as the LZ-2 motorway, or the Yaiza highway.  Visitors can also drive further north to Costa Teguise, or south, to Playa Blanca. All drivers who are from a foreign country should have an International Driving Permit when travelling in Spain, and on the Canary Islands, as this document is required by Spanish Law.  Hertz may require an IDP if your license is printed in a non-Roman alphabet.  Primary renters at Hertz will need to be at least 21 years of age, and have held their drivers license for a minimum period of one year prior to the rental date.  Anyone under the age of 25 is considered to be a ‘young driver’, and slightly higher rental rates are applicable to such individuals for young drivers insurance.  A major credit card will be needed in order to pay for the period of car hire.

Hertz, at Lanzarote Airport, offers their customers a wide variety of vehicles for hire, all of which are only of the latest models, and in excellent mechanical condition.  Hertz is also very popular for their range of vehicles which can be more specifically hired by make and model.  Most car hire companies only rent their vehicles by category.  There are three collections which are available for hire in this way, and they are the Hertz Green, Fun and Prestige Collections.  The Green Collection contains cars which are environmentally friendly and light on fuel as well, such as the Renault Clio, Ford Focus Trend 1.6 and Skoda Octavia or VW Jetta, while the Prestige Collection contains more luxurious vehicles manufactured by Volvo or Mercedes.  They include the Mercedes ML 300 CDI and the Volvo C70.

Hertz’s Fun Collection has an interesting variety of fun and sporty models, as well as larger cars such as the Ford S-Max Titanium and Volvo XC60.  Convertibles include the Renault Megane Cabrio, BMB Z4 sDrive and Lotus Evora 3.4, while trendy little cars available are of the Mini Cooper variety.  Alternatively, customers can choose the usual car category from Hertz, and drive the Chevrolet Spark, Toyota Yaris, Opel Astra or Toyota Auris Hybrid.  There are also estate vehicles for hire which are ideal for families, similar to the Renault Megane Sport Tourer, and larger vans for groups of travellers.  The Kia Carnival seats up to seven passengers, and the Opel Vivaro is ideal for nine.

At the Hertz Lanzarote Airport location, customers can hire car seats for the safety of their little ones, luggage racks for bulky items and the Hertz NeverLost, In-Car Navigation System, in order to ensure that they are ‘NeverLost’ in Lanzarote!  All items such as these come with a small additional cost per day of hire, but may be essential for comfortable, safe and easy travelling on the island.  Vehicles from Hertz may also be arranged as a one way hire, by customers who are not returning home via Lanzarote Airport, but perhaps by ferry, from Arrecife.  A one way hire will allow customers to collect their vehicle from the airport, but then to return it to another rental location.  There may be extra charges for this service, depending on the length of the car hire period and the final destination of the vehicle.  Customers should also confirm with Hertz if the rented car is permitted to be taken on ferries to the other islands, should this be part of their plans.

Disabled passengers will find Lanzarote Airport to be fully accessible, with various facilities to ensure their comfort at the airport, and Hertz, may offer hand controls for drivers with a lower limb deficiency.  Hand controls operate the brake and accelerator pedals of an automatic vehicle, and from Lanzarote Airport, should always be booked in advance.  Customers may also arrange their Lanzarote Airport car rental in advance, from Hertz’s website at www.hertz.com.  All further details are available from Hertz, at Lanzarote Airport.
